This blogpost describes how to integrate Firebase or AppsFlyer with Alembic using Google Universal Analytics. This assumes that:
you have already integrated Firebase or AppsFlyer with Google Analytics (GA).
you are familiar with creating Goals in GA.
you have the required ‘GA Editor’ role at the Property or View level to perform the tasks or use the features described in this document.
First, choose the right tools:
Integrate Alembic Mobile API with Apple’s App Store and Google Play
If you would like to use Alembic’s Mobile API to connect directly to the App Store or Google Play without the use of an SDK, please ask your Account Executive or Client Partner for an invitation to our Beta User Program.
Integrate app data with GA
AppsFlyer
Firebase SDK
Second, what Alembic needs:
Identify up to 10 metrics from AppsFlyer/Firebase that serve as a proxy for the success of your business and that you would like to integrate.
From the GA Homepage, click ‘Behavior’ -> select the “Events” tab -> click “Top Events” -> select ‘Full Report’.
Search for your events to verify that they are pulled in through GA as Events.
Create a GA3 Goal for each Event
Identify Goal structure from the following options:
Goals from a template
Custom Goals (recommended)
Smart Goals
Identify ‘Type’ from the following options:
Destination, Duration, Pages/Screens per session, or Event (recommended)
If using an Event Goal Type, make sure you name the Goal the same name (exactly) as the Event you want to map.
Verify the Goal is valid by examining the “Verify Goal” option to make sure it is pulling in data.
Identify the Google View where the new Goals will be created. Existing or New View?
Existing View:
If an existing View is being used and that View is not enabled within an Alembic container, it will need to be enabled. See Stage 3 (below).
New View:
If a New View is being created to host the new Goals, then create both the New View and Goals. The newly created View will be visible under the ‘Link Accounts’ page within Alembic within 24 hours of creation.
Third, enable proper views within Alembic
Navigate to the Link Accounts page within Alembic.
Select the container in which you want to enable the View using either the container navigation drop-down on the top-left hand side of the Alembic banner or by selecting “Manage Organization” from the top-right hand menu.
Locate the View from the list of linked accounts and click ‘ENABLE’..
Views can only be enabled in one container at a time. If you need to have Goals enabled in multiple containers, you will need to create multiple Views with your target Goals.
NOTES:
Once a Goal is created, any linked account will automatically ingest the new Goal providing that the correct View is enabled in a container.
Goal detections and correlations will be active in approximately 5 days.
Predictions based on new Goals without historical data will take up to 30 days before they are available in the Alembic UI.
Conclusion, by following these steps
Alembic can now find correlations between your app, website and social media data
Gives you greater insight into the halo of your app, social media and web marketing
